Mayor praises Merhaba Festival as 'a wonderful celebration of community'

"What a fantastic day at the Merhaba Festival. As Mayor of Rochdale, and alongside the Mayoress, I was absolutely delighted to attend and see Rochdale Town Hall Square come alive with such a vibrant celebration of culture, community and togetherness.

There truly was something for everyone. From the delicious food and unique artisan stalls to the live entertainment and welcoming atmosphere, it was wonderful to see people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to enjoy such a special event. The smiles, the laughter and the incredible sense of community made for a truly memorable day.

Events like the Merhaba Festival showcase everything that is great about our borough. They provide an opportunity to learn about different cultures, support local businesses and community organisations, and strengthen the friendships that make Rochdale such a welcoming place to live.

I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all of the sponsors, partners and volunteers whose hard work and dedication made this festival possible. Events of this scale simply do not happen without the commitment of so many people working tirelessly behind the scenes. Your efforts have created an event that the whole borough can be proud of.

I also want to thank everyone who attended. Your enthusiasm, kindness and willingness to come together created a warm, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere throughout the day. It was inspiring to see families, friends and visitors enjoying everything the festival had to offer while celebrating the rich diversity that makes Rochdale so special.

As Mayor, I firmly believe Rochdale is at its very best when we celebrate our different cultures, support one another and come together as one community. The Merhaba Festival was a wonderful example of exactly that spirit.

There was great food, fantastic stalls, excellent entertainment and, above all, an amazing atmosphere that could be felt throughout the Town Hall Square from start to finish.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped make the Merhaba Festival such an outstanding success. I am already looking forward to seeing it return next year and to celebrating with our communities once again."
