Two Drug Dealers Sentenced for Running Rochdale's 'Adam Line'

Two drug dealers have been sentenced for their involvement in a notorious Rochdale drugs line known as the 'Adam Line', which has persisted despite multiple police operations aimed at dismantling it. Haider Ali, 34, known as 'The Ghost', and Alan Ronald Ohara, 47, referred to as 'Rocket Ronny', were arrested last year while operating the line, which is believed to generate at least £1 million annually.

During a police operation, officers observed what appeared to be a drug deal taking place on Baron Street in Rochdale. Following a Nissan Qashqai, they apprehended Ali, who attempted to flee but was caught nearby. He was found in possession of £1,000 in cash, along with wraps of cocaine and heroin. Police discovered additional drugs in the vehicle, including 75 wraps of cocaine and 32 wraps of heroin. Prosecutors described Ali as the 'controller' of the Adam drugs line.

Ohara, who was driving the car, was also arrested, along with a 17-year-old boy named Shane Walsh, who was acting as Ali's 'trusted lieutenant'. Walsh was responsible for preparing drugs for sale. Evidence from mobile phones seized during the arrests indicated that the trio was heavily involved in the drug operation, with Walsh's phone containing lists of debts and expenses related to his drug dealing activities. Despite being released on bail, Walsh continued to engage in drug dealing until his second arrest.

The court heard that Walsh had been a victim of grooming and exploitation, having moved to Rochdale from Middleton due to personal issues. His involvement in the drug culture began at a young age, and he had been linked to the operation since he was 16. Ohara's messages revealed he was more than just a driver, discussing plans to establish his own drugs line. The case highlights ongoing challenges in tackling drug-related crime in Rochdale.
