Rochdale Youth Services to Expand with £100,000 Government Funding

Rochdale Borough Council has been awarded £100,000 as part of the government's £70 million initiative to expand the Young Futures Hubs and Transformation programme. This funding aims to improve access to a variety of youth activities and support services for young people across the borough.

The initiative addresses significant challenges faced by youth, including poor mental health, unemployment, and serious violence. The Rochdale Youth Service plans to enhance its existing offerings by providing additional emotional wellbeing services, personal mentoring, and skills guidance. This will ensure that young people receive timely support closer to their homes.

In addition to the new services, the funding will complement existing youth clubs and activities, including sports and outdoor sessions. The aim is to create a comprehensive support system that boosts confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging within the community.

Councillor Rachel Massey, cabinet member for children’s services and education, expressed optimism about the funding, stating that it will significantly benefit young people by providing them with the necessary resources and support to thrive.
