Families with a school uniform order waiting at Balderstone Library are being asked to collect it as soon as possible - because the shelves are full and new deliveries are arriving fast.

Uniform For All, the borough scheme that gives pre-loved school uniform a second life, says anyone who has received an order-ready-to-pick-up email from www.uniformforall.co.uk should call in and collect it promptly to make space. "It's busier than Amazon's warehouse at the Uniform For All office right now," the scheme said.

What is Uniform For All?

Uniform For All collects donated school uniform - the coats, jumpers, polo shirts, trousers and PE kit that children outgrow long before they wear out - checks and sorts it, and passes it on to families across the borough. Orders are placed through the website and collected locally, with Balderstone Library serving as a collection and donation point.

The idea is simple but the impact is real. Kitting a child out for September can cost families well over a hundred pounds per child, and for households already stretched by rent, bills and food, uniform costs land at exactly the wrong time of year. A reuse scheme means good clothing goes to a child who needs it instead of landfill, families keep money in their pockets, and children start term dressed the same as everyone else.
