The terms on which this website is made available. By using Rochdale Daily you accept them.
Using the site
Rochdale Daily is free to read. You may read, link to and share our articles for your own personal, non-commercial use.
You must not attempt to disrupt the site, gain access to any part of it you are not authorised to use, or use it in any way that breaks the law or infringes anyone else’s rights.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site at any time. We try to keep it available, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted.
Copyright
The articles, headlines, photographs, graphics, design and the name Rochdale Daily are our property or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to quote a short extract with clear credit to Rochdale Daily and a link to the article — that is ordinary fair dealing for news reporting, criticism or review, and we encourage it.
You may not republish an article in full, systematically copy our content, or use it for a commercial purpose, without our written permission. If you would like to reuse something, ask us: we usually say yes.
Where a photograph is credited to someone else, the copyright belongs to them and you will need their permission, not ours.
Comments
Comments are the views of the people who write them, not of Rochdale Daily. They appear without being checked in advance.
By posting, you confirm that what you write is your own, that you believe it to be true, and that it does not break the law. You keep ownership of your comment, and you give us permission to publish it on this site.
You must not post anything that is:
- abusive, threatening or harassing;
- racist, or otherwise hateful towards people because of who they are;
- defamatory, or an accusation you cannot stand behind;
- in contempt of court, or capable of prejudicing a live case — this includes naming anyone the law protects from identification;
- an invasion of someone’s privacy, including publishing their address or contact details;
- spam, advertising, or impersonation of someone else.
Comments are closed on crime and court stories. That is a deliberate decision: the risk of prejudicing proceedings or defaming someone is highest there, and it is not a risk we ask readers to carry.
We may remove any comment and close any account, without notice, where these terms have been broken. If you think a comment breaches them, use the report link and we will look at it.
If you believe a comment about you is defamatory, contact us at news@rochdaledaily.co.uk and we will deal with it under the process the law sets out for website operators.
Accuracy
We take accuracy seriously and set out the standards we hold ourselves to on our editorial standards page. Even so, mistakes happen. When they do we correct them openly rather than quietly — see corrections and complaints.
Nothing on this site is legal, financial, medical or professional advice. If a story affects a decision you need to make, take proper advice.
Advertising
Advertising keeps this site free to read. Adverts are clearly distinguishable from editorial content, and advertisers have no influence over what we report. Buying an advert does not buy favourable coverage, and it does not protect anyone from being written about.
We are not responsible for the goods, services or claims of any advertiser. Any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them.
Links to other sites
We link to other websites, including the sources behind our reporting. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or how they handle your information. A link is not an endorsement.
Liability
We provide this site in good faith and take reasonable care over it, but we do not guarantee that it will be error-free or continuously available.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site, from anything you rely on here, or from any comment posted by a reader.
