Edenfield Road reopens early after resurfacing work completed ahead of schedule

Edenfield Road between the White Lion and Nutters has reopened to traffic after resurfacing works were completed ahead of schedule.

Norden councillor Paul Ellison MBE confirmed on Saturday that the road is now open and that the road closure which had been expected on Sunday will no longer be required.

Contractors completed the main resurfacing work early, with Saturday seeing the final road-lining work carried out. Cat's-eye road studs are due to be fitted on Monday, but the road itself has reopened.

Councillor Ellison thanked Rochdale Borough Council, A&T Surfacing and Rhodes & Son Construction for completing the scheme ahead of schedule, describing the finished work as a fantastic job.

The reopening will be welcome news for residents and motorists using one of the principal routes through Norden. The works had required traffic restrictions while the carriageway was resurfaced, with further closure time originally expected over the weekend.

With the contractors finishing earlier than planned, drivers can now use the stretch between the White Lion and Nutters without the anticipated Sunday closure.

Motorists should remain aware that the final cat's-eye inserts are expected to be fitted on Monday and should follow any temporary traffic management in place while that work is completed.
