Festival of Remembrance Scheduled for 16 October at Rochdale Town Hall

A Festival of Remembrance is scheduled for Friday, 16 October, at Rochdale Town Hall, aimed at honouring members of the Armed Forces community. The event is organised by Rochdale Borough Council in collaboration with local veterans’ groups and will feature music from military bands, an act of remembrance, and the sharing of historic war stories.

Guests at the event are expected to include the Mayor of Rochdale, MPs, councillors, and representatives from the Armed Forces. Mayor Faisal Rana expressed that the evening will be a special occasion to pay respect to the service and sacrifice of both past and present Armed Forces personnel. He noted, "This will be a moving and memorable night in the Great Hall at Rochdale Town Hall."

The last Festival of Remembrance was held in 2019, making this year’s event particularly significant as it brings together the Armed Forces family once again. Proceeds from the event will support the Mayor of Rochdale’s charities for 2026 and 2027, which include the Rochdale Veterans Breakfast Club, Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association, SANDS, Springhill Hospice, and The Christie.

Tickets for the Festival of Remembrance are priced at £15 and include a pie and pea supper. They can be purchased through the Your Trust Rochdale website, providing an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance and support of local charities.
