Young bowlers invited to take part in Syke Bowling Club fun day
Syke Bowling Club is inviting young people from across Greater Manchester to a free Junior Fun Day featuring crown green bowling, prizes, refreshments and activities aimed at introducing more children to the sport.
Young people from across Greater Manchester are being invited to try crown green bowling at a free junior fun day taking place at Syke Bowling Club this weekend. The event is designed to introduce children and teenagers to the sport in a relaxed and welcoming environment, with food, drinks, prizes and coaching all included.
The Junior Fun Day will take place on Sunday, 2 August, at Syke Bowling Club on Dewhirst Road, Rochdale, with activities beginning at 11am. Organisers say the event is open to all juniors aged 18 and under, whether they have played crown green bowling before or are trying it for the first time.
Throughout the day, young participants will have the opportunity to take part in friendly bowling activities, meet other players and develop new skills under the guidance of club members. Organisers hope the event will encourage more young people to become involved in a sport that has a long history across Rochdale and the wider North West.
Prizes will be awarded during the event, including cash prizes, sweets and chocolate, while every junior attending will receive complimentary food, drinks and snacks. The organisers say the emphasis is on having fun, making new friends and giving children the confidence to have a go in an informal setting.
The event is also being used to appeal for local businesses and organisations to support junior bowling. Syke Bowling Club is seeking sponsors to help fund prizes and refreshments, saying contributions of any size would be welcomed to help expand opportunities for young players and support future events.
