Festival of Remembrance Scheduled for Rochdale Town Hall on 16 October
Rochdale Town Hall will host a Festival of Remembrance on 16 October, organised by the council and local veterans, to honour the Armed Forces community and raise funds for local charities.
A Festival of Remembrance will take place at Rochdale Town Hall on Friday, 16 October, to honour members of the Armed Forces community. The event is organised by Rochdale Borough Council in collaboration with local veterans' groups and aims to recognise the service and sacrifice of both past and present Armed Forces personnel.
The evening will feature performances by military bands, an act of remembrance, and the sharing of historic war stories. Dignitaries expected to attend include the Mayor of Rochdale, MPs, councillors, and representatives from the Armed Forces. Mayor Faisal Rana expressed that this event will be a significant occasion for the Armed Forces community to unite and pay respect to those who have served.
Tickets for the event are priced at £15, which includes a pie and pea supper. Proceeds from the evening will support the Mayor of Rochdale’s charities for 2026 and 2027, which include the Rochdale Veterans Breakfast Club, Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association, SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), Springhill Hospice, and The Christie.
This Festival of Remembrance marks the first such event since 2019, making it a poignant gathering for the community. Attendees are encouraged to reflect on the contributions of the Armed Forces while enjoying a night of remembrance and camaraderie.
