Ignite Fire Festival Returns to Rochdale from 20 to 22 November 2026

The Ignite Fire Festival will return to Rochdale for three evenings of entertainment from Friday, 20 November to Sunday, 22 November 2026. Organised by the Rochdale Development Agency, the festival promises to be bigger and better than its inaugural event in 2023, with new dazzling trails and attractions planned for this year.

The festival will transform the square and gardens around Rochdale Town Hall, including new pathways and parkland on Broadfield Slopes. Each evening will feature free night-time shows that deliver magical and immersive experiences of fire, lights, and sound. Last year, over 10,000 people attended the festival, and this year’s event is expected to attract even more visitors.

Among the highlights will be fiery displays, blazing sculptures, and an illuminated installation created by the award-winning outdoor arts specialists Walk the Plank. The festival will also include a performance called 'Fireflies', which is part of the Culture Co-op programme, featuring local residents trained to perform fire-spinning feats alongside performers from Travelling Light Circus, who will return for this year’s event.

The Christmas lights switch-on will take place on the final evening of the festival, adding to the festive atmosphere. Councillor Sue Smith, cabinet member for communities and co-operation at Rochdale Borough Council, expressed excitement about the festival, stating that it has quickly become one of the most popular events in the borough.
