Heywood's Pride in Place Scheme Seeks New Chair Following Brian Davies' Resignation

The Pride in Place scheme in Heywood is temporarily without a chair following the resignation of Brian Davies. This £20 million initiative, aimed at transforming the town, is now seeking new leadership to guide it through its next phase.

Elsie Blundell, MP for Heywood and Middleton North, praised Davies for his efforts in securing government approval for the investment plan and initiating the scheme. She expressed excitement about the upcoming transition to the delivery phase, stating that the community's priorities include addressing crime and anti-social behaviour, improving transport links, and enhancing facilities for young people.

The Pride in Place project is community-led, with board members representing various local stakeholders, including residents, community organisations, and businesses. The scheme has secured funding of £2 million per year for ten years, and the board is now focused on developing and implementing projects that will shape the future of Heywood.

The search for a new chair and two additional board members is underway, with Blundell encouraging interested individuals to contact her office for more information.
