Littleborough and Wardle Brass Bands Prepare for National Finals on 20 September

Littleborough Brass Band and Wardle Community Band are gearing up for the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, taking place on Sunday, 20 September, at York Barbican. Both bands performed their test pieces during a concert held at St Andrew’s Church in Dearnley, Littleborough, on Sunday, 13 September.
Littleborough Brass Band, under the direction of conductor Max Stannard, played 'Snow Island' by Thierry Deleruyelle, competing in the Third Section. Meanwhile, Wardle Community Band, led by conductor Jane Conway, performed 'Heroes of the North' by Peter Graham, preparing for the Fourth Section contest.
Matthew Ryan, a brass band adjudicator and conductor, attended the concert to provide feedback to both bands on their performances. Jonathan Coomer, secretary of Littleborough Brass Band, emphasised the importance of performing in front of an audience as part of their preparation for the finals.
The concert attracted a full audience at St Andrew’s Church, showcasing the talent and dedication of both bands as they make their final preparations for the national competition this week.
