Rochdale Libraries Partner with Charity to Provide Free School Uniforms

Libraries across Rochdale are teaming up with the local charity Uniform For All to provide families with access to thousands of free pre-loved school uniforms and shoes. This initiative comes as many households struggle with the increasing costs associated with school attire, making it difficult for some families to afford essential items for their children.

The partnership aims to meet the growing demand for affordable alternatives by allowing families to collect high-quality pre-loved items, including polo shirts, skirts, trousers, branded school blazers, coats, and pumps. However, the challenge remains for some families who may not have the means to travel long distances to collect these items. To address this, Rochdale’s library service is facilitating the collection of these uniforms, enabling families to pick them up at their nearest library, thereby reducing travel costs.

In addition to providing uniforms, library staff will be available to offer further support related to the cost of living, including access to free Wi-Fi and computer facilities, as well as information on other benefits linked to library membership. Councillor Sue Smith, cabinet member for communities and co-operation, expressed support for the initiative, highlighting its importance in helping families during challenging times.

This collaboration not only assists families in obtaining necessary school items but also fosters community support through local libraries. Residents are encouraged to visit their local library to take advantage of this service and to seek additional assistance as needed.
