Free outdoor cinema comes to Rochdale Town Hall slopes this summer

One of Rochdale's newest public spaces is being transformed into an outdoor cinema this summer, with a series of free film screenings taking place on the newly landscaped Broadfield Park Slopes behind Rochdale Town Hall.

Organised by Rochdale Town Hall as part of its growing programme of community events following the building's major restoration, the screenings are designed to encourage residents to enjoy the regenerated public space while bringing people into the town centre during the summer holidays.

Fantastic Mr. Fox (PG), Thursday 30 July, 1pm to 4pm. Suffragette (12A), Thursday 30 July, 5pm to 8pm. The Wild Robot (U), Thursday 27 August, 1pm to 4pm. Peterloo (12), Thursday 27 August, 5pm to 8.30pm.

The daytime screenings focus on family entertainment, while the evening programme celebrates significant moments in British history with critically acclaimed dramas.

What to expect

Visitors are encouraged to bring picnic blankets or camping chairs and relax on the grass while watching the films on a large outdoor screen overlooking Rochdale Town Hall.

Snacks and soft drinks will be available to purchase before each screening, while children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Admission is free, although advance booking via Eventbrite is required due to limited capacity.

Parking

Visitors should note that Rochdale Town Hall's main car park will be closed during the screenings as it will be used to accommodate the cinema screen and event equipment. Alternative town centre parking is available nearby.
